Shrek Christmas Ornament Crochet Pattern

Materials:

• Green, brown, white, and red worsted weight yarn
• 2.5 mm or 3.0 mm crochet hook
• Black embroidery thread for details
• Fiberfill stuffing
• 6 mm safety eyes or googly eyes
• Tapestry needle

Abbreviations:

• MR: Magic Ring
• SC: Single Crochet
• INC: Increase (2 SC in one stitch)
• DEC: Decrease (sc2tog)
• SL ST: Slip Stitch

Pattern:

Head:

1. Round 1: With green yarn, MR, 6 SC into the ring. (6)
2. Round 2: INC in each stitch around. (12)
3. Round 3: SC, INC repeat around. (18)
4. Round 4: 2 SC, INC repeat around. (24)
5. Rounds 5-9: SC around. (24)
6. Insert safety eyes and embroider a mouth and eyebrows with black thread.
7. Round 10: 2 SC, DEC repeat around. (18)
8. Round 11: SC, DEC repeat around. (12)
9. Stuff the head, Round 12: DEC around. (6) Fasten off and weave in the end.

Ears (make 2):

1. Chain 3, SC in the 2nd chain from hook and in the next chain.
2. Fasten off, leaving a tail to sew onto the head.

Santa Hat:

1. Round 1: With red yarn, MR, 4 SC into the ring. (4)
2. Round 2: SC, INC repeat around. (6)
3. Round 3: SC, INC repeat around. (9)
4. Round 4: 2 SC, INC repeat around. (12)
5. Round 5: SC around. Change to white yarn for the hat’s trim and SL ST around. Fasten off.

Body:

1. Round 1: With brown yarn, MR, 6 SC into the ring. (6)
2. Round 2: INC in each stitch around. (12)
3. Round 3: SC, INC repeat around. (18)
4. Rounds 4-7: SC around. (18)
5. Change to white yarn, SL ST around for a fluffy trim, and fasten off.

Assembly:

• Attach the ears to the sides of Shrek’s head.
• Sew the hat on top of the head.
• Attach the head to the body.
• Add a loop to the top of the hat for hanging.
