Materials:

• Size 4 worsted weight yarn in black, orange, white, green, purple, and yellow
• Crochet hook: 5.0mm
• Tapestry needle

Instructions:

1. Main Rug Base:
   • Start with black yarn.
   • Chain a foundation chain the width you want for the rug (e.g., 100 chains).
   • Row 1: Single crochet (SC) in the second chain from the hook and across. Chain 1 and turn.
   • Row 2-50: Continue in single crochet across, chaining 1 and turning at the end of each row to create a solid black base for the design.
2. Pumpkin Face (centerpiece):
   • With orange yarn, create a magic ring.
   • Round 1: 6 SC in the magic ring. (6)
   • Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch. (12)
   • Round 3: (1 SC, 2 SC in next stitch) around. (18)
   • Continue increasing until the pumpkin is the desired size for the center of the rug.
   • Use black yarn to crochet facial features (eyes, nose, and mouth) and sew them onto the pumpkin.
3. Black Cats:
   • Use black yarn to crochet small cat motifs.
   • Chain 12 for the cat’s body.
   • Work in rounds to shape the cat, using SC and double crochet (DC) for the body and tail.
   • Make separate small green eyes with green yarn, and sew them onto the head of each cat.
4. Bats:
   • With black yarn, crochet small bat wings.

5. Border Pumpkins:
   • Create small pumpkins using orange yarn with a basic amigurumi technique.

   • Add green leaves and stems, and sew the pumpkins around the border of the rug.
6. Assembly:
   • Lay out the various motifs (pumpkin, bats, cats) on the black base.
