Crochet Pumpkin Basket Pattern for Halloween

Materials:

• Yarn: Orange, black, and green (Medium weight)
• 4.0 mm crochet hook
• Tapestry needle
• Black buttons or safety eyes
• Fiberfill for stuffing (optional for leaves)
• Scissors

Abbreviations:

• MR: magic ring
• sc: single crochet
• inc: increase (2 stitches in the same stitch)
• dec: decrease (crochet 2 stitches together)
• sl st: slip stitch
• ch: chain

Basket (Orange Yarn)

1. Round 1: MR, 6 sc in the ring (6).
2. Round 2: Inc in each stitch (12).
3. Round 3: 1 sc, inc around (18).
4. Round 4: 2 sc, inc around (24).
5. Round 5: 3 sc, inc around (30).
6. Round 6: 4 sc, inc around (36).
7. Continue increasing evenly by 6 stitches per round until you reach the desired basket base size.
8. Rounds 7-20: Sc around (no increases). Adjust the height as preferred.

Pumpkin Face (Black Yarn)

1. Eyes: Make 2 triangles.
   • Round 1: MR, 4 sc (4).
   • Round 2: 1 sc, inc around (6).
   • Round 3: 2 sc, inc around (8).
   • Fasten off and sew to the basket.
2. Nose: Make 1 triangle.
   • Round 1: MR, 3 sc (3).
   • Round 2: 1 sc, inc around (5).
   • Round 3: 2 sc, inc around (7).
   • Fasten off and attach below the eyes.
3. Mouth:
   • Using black yarn, crochet a half-moon shape or embroider the mouth directly onto the basket.

Leaves (Green Yarn, Make 2)

1. Row 1: Ch 6.
2. Row 2: Sc in the second ch from hook and in each ch across (5).
3. Row 3: Inc, sc in next 3 sts, inc (7).
4. Row 4: Sc across (7).
5. Row 5: Dec, sc in next 3 sts, dec (5).

7. Fasten off and attach to the top of the pumpkin basket, near the handle.

Handle (Black Yarn)

1. Row 1: Ch 60 (or longer for a larger handle).
2. Row 2: Sc in each ch across.
3. Attach each end of the handle to the sides of the basket.
