Crochet Butterfly Headband Pattern

Materials:

• Light worsted weight yarn in gray, blue, and white
• 3.5 mm crochet hook
• Tapestry needle
• Scissors

Abbreviations:

• ch: chain
• sc: single crochet
• dc: double crochet
• tr: treble crochet
• sl st: slip stitch

Headband Base

1. Foundation Row:
   • With gray yarn, ch 80 (or desired length to fit around your head).
   • Row 1: Sc in the second ch from the hook and in each ch across. Turn. (79 sts)
2. Lace Pattern:
   • Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc), skip 1 st, dc in the next st, ch 1, repeat from * to * across. Turn.
   • Row 3: Ch 3, dc in the ch space, ch 1, repeat across. Turn.
   • Repeat Row 2 and Row 3 until the band reaches the desired width. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Butterfly Appliqué

1. Butterfly Body:
   • With brown yarn, ch 10.
   • Row 1: Sc in the second ch from the hook and in each ch across. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
2. Butterfly Wings (Make 4 per Butterfly):
   • With light blue yarn, make a magic ring.
   • Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc, 1 tr, 2 dc, sl st to close the ring.
   • Fasten off and repeat to make 4 wings (2 larger, 2 smaller).
3. Assembly:
   • Sew the two smaller wings on the top and the two larger wings on the bottom of the butterfly body. Repeat for each butterfly.
   • Attach the butterflies to the headband using a tapestry needle and the long tails left from the butterfly bodies.
