Detailed Crochet Recipe for Christmas Tree Stocking

Materials:

• Yarn: Worsted weight green yarn (approx. 150g), small amounts of red, yellow, and other colors for decorations.

Abbreviations:

Instructions:

Tree Base:

1. Start with a magic ring.
2. Round 1: Ch 1, work 6 sc into the ring. Sl st to join. (6 sc)
3. Round 2: Inc in each stitch around. (12 sc)
4. Round 3: (1 sc, inc) repeat around. (18 sc)
5. Continue increasing by adding 1 sc between each increase until you reach the desired tree size (typically 12–15 rounds).

Tree Shape:

1. Begin working in rows to form the triangular shape.
2. Row 1: Ch 1, sc in the next 8 stitches, turn.
3. Row 2: Dec, sc across, dec at the end, turn.
4. Repeat Row 2 until 1 stitch remains. FO.

Tree Trunk:

1. Attach brown yarn at the base of the tree.
2. Ch 1, sc across the bottom 6 stitches, turn.
3. Work 4 rows in sc for the trunk. FO.

Decorations:

1. Use red and yellow yarn to create small “baubles” by making a magic ring, ch 1, and 6 sc. Close and FO.
2. Attach tinsel or metallic yarn in a zig-zag pattern across the tree.
3. Cut a felt star and sew it to the top.

Assembly:

1. Crochet two identical tree shapes and sc them together around the edges, leaving the top open for filling.
2. Add a green chain loop at the top for hanging.
