Amigurumi Axolotl Crochet Pattern

Materials:

• Yarn:
  • Pink (body)
  • Dark pink (gills)
• Hook: 2.5 mm or 3.0 mm crochet hook
• Stuffing: Polyester fiberfill
• Extras: Safety eyes (8 mm), yarn needle, scissors, and black embroidery thread for the mouth

Abbreviations:

• MR: Magic ring
• ch: Chain
• sc: Single crochet
• inc: Increase (2 stitches in 1 stitch)
• dec: Decrease
• sl st: Slip stitch

Head and Body (Pink Yarn):

1. Round 1: 6 sc in MR. (6)
2. Round 2: Inc in each st. (12)
3. Round 3: 1 sc, inc around. (18)
4. Round 4-8: Sc in each st. (18)
5. Round 9: 1 sc, dec around. (12)
6. Stuff the head lightly.
7. Round 10: Sc in each st. (12)
8. Round 11: 1 sc, inc around. (18)
9. Round 12-14: Sc in each st. (18)
10. Round 15: 1 sc, dec around. (12)
11. Round 16: Dec around. (6)
12. Fasten off and close the opening.

Legs (Make 4 – Pink Yarn):

1. Round 1: 6 sc in MR. (6)
2. Round 2-3: Sc in each st. (6)
3. Stuff lightly and sew to the body.

Gills (Make 6 – Dark Pink Yarn):

1. Round 1: 6 sc in MR. (6)
2. Round 2: 1 sc, inc around. (9)
3. Round 3-4: Sc in each st. (9)
4. Flatten each piece and attach 3 gills to each side of the head.

Tail (Pink Yarn):

1. Ch 6.
2. Row 1: Sc across, ch 1, turn. (6)
3. Row 2-5: Dec 1 at the beginning of each row until 1 st remains.
4. Fasten off and sew to the back of the body.

Face:

• Attach safety eyes between Rounds 3 and 4 of the head.
• Embroider a small smile using black thread.
