Recipe: Crochet Santa Ornament Pattern

Materials Needed:

• Red yarn (hat)
• White yarn (beard and trim)
• Skin-colored yarn (face)
• Black beads or yarn (eyes)
• Red bead or yarn (nose)
• Polyester stuffing
• Crochet hook (3.5 mm or appropriate for yarn)
• Tapestry needle
• Small pom-pom or cotton ball (hat topper)
• Optional: Thread or string for hanging

Instructions:

1. Santa’s Head:
   • Using skin-colored yarn, start with a magic ring and chain 1.
   • Round 1: Work 6 single crochets (SC) into the ring.
   • Round 2: Increase in each stitch around (12 SC).
   • Round 3: [SC in the next stitch, increase] repeat around (18 SC).
   • Round 4-5: SC evenly around.
   • Begin decreasing: [SC in the next stitch, decrease] repeat (12 SC). Stuff lightly.
   • Final round: Decrease in each stitch until closed.
2. Santa’s Hat:
   • Using red yarn, chain 2.
   • Round 1: Work 4 SC in the second chain from the hook.
   • Round 2: SC evenly around.
   • Round 3: Increase in every second stitch.
   • Continue in this pattern, increasing gradually until the hat fits the top of Santa’s head. End with a round of SC in white yarn for the trim.
3. Beard:
   • With white yarn, attach at the base of Santa’s face.
   • Work small puff stitches or loop stitches in rows to create a fluffy beard effect.
4. Face Details:
   • Attach black beads or embroider black yarn for eyes.
   • Use a red bead or yarn for the nose.
5. Assembly:
   • Attach the hat to the top of Santa’s head.
   • Sew a pom-pom or cotton ball to the tip of the hat.
   • Add a string or thread loop for hanging the ornament.
