Halloween Crochet Poncho with Pumpkins and Bats

Crochet Halloween Poncho Pattern

Materials:

• Worsted weight yarn in cream, orange, black, green, purple, and other fall colors
• 5.00mm crochet hook
• Yarn needle
• Stitch markers
• Scissors

Abbreviations:

• CH: Chain
• SC: Single Crochet
• DC: Double Crochet
• INC: Increase (2 SC in the same stitch)
• DEC: Decrease (SC 2 stitches together)
• SL ST: Slip Stitch

Poncho Base:

1. Starting Yoke:
   Using the main color (cream), CH 96 and join with SL ST to form a circle.
2. Round 1:
   CH 2 (counts as DC), DC in each CH around. Join with SL ST to the top of CH 2.
3. Rounds 2-6:
   Continue with DC, increasing by 1 stitch every 12 stitches to shape the yoke.
4. Change Colors:
   Switch to black yarn for the next 5 rounds, continuing DC stitches evenly without increases.

Pumpkin Appliqués:

1. With orange yarn, MR, 6 SC into the ring.
2. Round 2:
   INC in each stitch around. (12)
3. Round 3:
   (1 SC, INC) around. (18)
4. Round 4:
   (2 SC, INC) around. (24)
5. Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing onto the poncho.
6. Embroider faces using black yarn or attach black felt cutouts.

Bat Appliqués:

1. With black yarn, CH 6.
2. Row 1:
   SC in the second CH from hook, and across. (5)
3. Row 2:
   CH 1, turn, SC in each stitch.
4. For the bat wings, create 3 small chains on each side, sl st back down to form the wing shape.
5. Sew the bats onto the poncho.

Finishing:

• After finishing the poncho base, attach the pumpkin and bat appliqués using a yarn needle.
• Add any additional Halloween motifs, such as witch hats or ghosts, around the lower edge or sleeves.
